Notice to Contractors: Fowl River Marsh & Shoreline Restoration Project

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:

Sealed proposals will be received by Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP), Attention Roberta Swann, 118 North Royal St. Suite 601, Mobile, AL 36602 until February 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM (CDT), for:

Fowl River Marsh and Shoreline Restoration Project
Theodore, Mobile County, Alabama

at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read. A cashier’s check or bid bond payable to Mobile Bay National Estuary Program in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder’s proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract.

The work includes enhancement and restoration of five wetland spits along Fowl River. The project will encompass up to 28 acres, 126,000 cubic yards of beneficial use dredge material obtained from the North Blakeley Disposal Site, the placement of 5,850 cubic yards of riprap, construction of 7,600 linear feet of timber breakwater structures, and installation of 30,000 linear feet of coir logs and hay bales. Construction will be accomplished in phases with at least two thin-layer placement events anticipated.

A Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be conducted on February 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM (CDT) at Thompson Engineering, 2970 Cottage Hill Road, Ste. 190, Mobile, AL 36606. The hybrid pre-bid conference will be held in-person and virtually. Bidders must attend this meeting but DO NOT have to attend in person.
