The Planning

In 2014 the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) contracted with Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. (GMC) to prepare a comprehensive Watershed Management Plan (WMP) for the Fowl River Watershed. The Fowl River Watershed is one of several intertidal watersheds along the Alabama coast identified for restoration. This plan charts a conceptual course for improving and protecting what people living along the Alabama coast value most.

The purpose of this plan is to guide watershed resource managers, policy makers, community organizations and citizens to protect the chemical, biological, and cultural integrity of the Fowl River Watershed, and specifically its waters and habitats supporting healthy populations of fish, shellfish, and wildlife and providing recreation in and on these waters of coastal Alabama. This plan was completed in 2016 and is available to view or download by clicking the links below under Final Plan.

Contractor
The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program has awarded the WMP contract to a consultant, Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. who will work with Planning Next on the public participation activities.

Project Timeline
The Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood Team has prepared a schedule that will result in a final Watershed Management Plan Report being prepared within 12 months. We recognize the importance of being flexible and adaptable to changing client needs. We understand that conditions and priorities change over time and that a successful contractor must be able to accelerate activities when requested or adjust to changing priorities.
